About NetBSD/luna68k

NetBSD/luna68k is a port of NetBSD to the LUNA product line of OMRON
Tateisi Electronics, Japan. The LUNA was a 20MHz/m68030 desktop computer
at the age of then-booming UNIX workstations, roughly comparable to
a sun3/60 and any m68020/m68030 unix boxes at that time. It is a
descendent of the company's 6U VME deskside m68010 box nicknamed
Supermate, and was succeeded by a m68040 variant, LUNA-II. It has a
rare cousin LUNA-88K which sports 4 88k processors geared by CMU Mach2.5.

        Native bootloader

-
Native bootloader support for NetBSD/luna68k ELF kernel has been committed.
      It's based on
      4.4BSD/luna68k's
"Stinger" bootloader written back in 1992 and 1993,
and now we can load NetBSD/luna68k kernels from any SCSI disks or
      over LANCE Ethernet
      both on LUNA-I and LUNA-II.

        Completion of LUNA-II support

-
After ~12 years since initial import, finally we have got
      NetBSD/luna68k working on 68040 based LUNA-II.
The working LUNA-II was demonstrated on NetBSD booth at
      Kansai
      Open Source 2011. See an
event driven commit log for details.

        The Resurrection of NetBSD/luna68k

-
After almost a lost decade since NetBSD/luna68k was switched to using
ELF format by default back in 2001, now NetBSD/luna68k is working on
the real SX-9100/DT LUNA hardware again. It was also demonstrated on
      NetBSD
booth at Open Source Conference 2011 Kansai @ Kyoto. See an
event driven commit log for more details.
